High performance security transponder (HITAG 3) for vehicle immobilization applications. Protocol design of the HITAG 3 is based on the established HITAG 2 protocol and extended by the HITAG 2 Extended protocol improvements to support a fast and seamless base station software upgrade. It derives its power supply from the magnetic field (LF field) established by the base station. Features secure contactless authentication, employing a secret key and a random number (challenge) in order to cipher any communication between the device and the base station in ciphered access mode.
